Our Story
We are deeply committed to honesty, respect, and high standards – and that commitment is reflected in the quality of our lamb. We were the first lamb producer in the world to achieve Non-GMO Project verification and Global Animal Partnership Step 4 accreditation. As a founding member of the Savory Institute Land to Market Regenerative Leadership Council, we are proud to uphold the principles of regenerative farming. Our unwavering dedication to ethical, sustainable practices ensures our customers can truly taste the difference in every bite of Atkins Ranch lamb.

The best lamb in the world

Pristine pastures
New Zealand’s ideal climate and fertile pastures make it the premier location for raising exceptional, nutritious lamb. With plentiful rainfall nourishing lush fields year-round, our lambs freely graze on abundant grass in our open, expansive farmlands. Rigorous traceability and quality controls assure consumers of the authentic origin and superior standard of our lamb.
Natural goodness
Grass fed lamb is the superior choice for your family’s health. This naturally leaner meat is packed with a powerhouse of essential nutrients, including high-quality protein, iron, zinc, vitamin D, and a robust B-complex (B12, niacin, B6, B1, B2, and biotin) – all vital for overall well-being. Compared to grain fed lamb, pasture raised lamb boasts more omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A and E, and conjugated linoleic acid – a “good” fat linked to reduced body fat and cancer risk.

Regeneratively raised
We farm regeneratively, working in harmony with the land, adapting to its needs. Our practices sequester carbon, enhance water quality and biodiversity, and enrich soils – leaving the natural systems we steward stronger, healthier, and more resilient than when we found them. We are steadfast in our belief that farming can and must be a force for good, benefiting the land and animals we are entrusted to protect for generations to come.
Our farms
Family of farms
We take pride in our commitment to responsible, sustainable farming practices that prioritize both environmental stewardship and the well-being of our animals. Our unwavering dedication to doing what’s right sets us apart, and we forge partnerships with a carefully curated network of like-minded, trusted farmers who share our values and deliver products of the highest quality.
In the spotlight – Kouratahi
One of the original farms that helped to start Atkins Ranch over 35 years ago, Kouratahi sits on over 1700 acres located in the rolling hill country of Wairarapa, New Zealand. As its custodian, Mike Cammock feels a very real sense of duty to demonstrate to his children that Kouratahi is a longstanding, future facing sustainable business.
Supplier of the year – The Beamish Family
As part of our commitment to supporting our farmers, Atkins Ranch selects the top performing supplier each year to receive a trip for two from New Zealand to the United States. This supplier of the year award gives them the opportunity to tour our retail stores and see their Atkins Ranch lamb on the shelves. This year’s winner, the Beamish Family, has a long history of sheep farming in partnership with Atkins Ranch.
